About the Job

Essential Responsibilities:

 

We are seeking a Project Purchasing Assistant to join our team at Alliant Systems. We offer a wide spectrum of services – new construction, tenant improvement, engineering, maintenance, controls, energy services and commissioning. This position is responsible for a broad range of tasks to support the purchasing department and the warehouse.

The Purchasing Assistant performs the following:

​

  • Receiving: tools, equipment and storage of materials

  • Shipping

  • Freight claims

  • Issue purchase orders for tools and consumable items

  • Assist our Service Technicians with warranty claims (tracking, warranty paperwork, and shipping)

  • Request, organize, and file all documents associated with purchase orders  for our warehouse and service department

  • Forklift: unloading trucks, loading trucks and putting pallets on racking

  • Maintain purchase order records in accounting software and become familiar with cost codes

  • Work directly with our vendors/subcontractors to procure quotes and submittals

  • Track equipment lead times and their ETA’s

  • Help with labor in the office as needed

  • Keep personnel notified regarding the status of orders

  • Become familiar with the basic materials and vocabulary used in the trade

  • Perform additional tasks as assigned

 

Requirements:

The candidate must possess the following skills and abilities:

  • Demonstrate a practical understanding of mechanical systems, services industry and customer service

  • 1-2 years purchasing experience

  • Previous purchasing and/or construction industry experience is a plus

  • Proficient in Microsoft software products

  • Proficient in Adobe and/or Bluebeam

  • Possess superior organizational skills

  • Ability to interact positively with Alliant personnel and vendors, building constructive and effective relationships

  • Possess excellent verbal, written, listening, persuasion and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision or in a team atmosphere

  • Self-motivated and responsible, can prioritize tasks and meet deadlines

  • Ability to accurately and calmly handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions

  • Willing to learn new tasks

  • History of good employment attendance

  • Valid license and clean driving license required
