DJC 2019 Top Projects
Alliant Systems contributed engineering and construction services to several of the 2019 Daily Journal of Commerce (DJC) Top Projects. Most notably, the project of the year is Field Office, which we provided HVAC design and construction services. The Field Office complex is two six-story buildings with 300,000 SF of office and retail and is LEED platinum certified. There is one level of below grade parking, tall enough to fit 149 mechanized lifts, that provides 298 parking spaces.
We are proud to have worked with Lease Crutcher Lewis and Project^ on this great addition to Portland’s landscape. There were several other award winners in this year’s DJC’s Top Projects that Alliant was involved in:
PSU Stott Center / Viking Pavilion took First Place in the Education Renovation category
Meier & Frank Redevelopment received an Honorable Mention in the Major Renovation Category
The Windward (formerly Block 137) took First Place in Multifamily
Touchmark in the West Hills took Second Place in Multifamily
Tillamook Creamery took First Place in “Other”
Vista (Block 20) was a finalist in Multifamily
Alliant has the service contracts for Meier & Frank, The Windward, Touchmark, and Field Office.

A fundamental value at Alliant Systems is contributing to the betterment of our community through giving, so we are pleased to announce that Kelsey Rozell has been named to the Board of Directors of Raphael House of Portland. Kels is an accounts receivable specialist at Alliant who is passionate about seizing the opportunity to make a real difference in people’s lives. Let’s Hear it For Volvo’s
We are proud to share this write up from hotrod.com on one of our Senior Partner’s latest car builds HERE. It took Sean Fogli a little over a year and a lot of blood, sweat and curse words to turn this 1983 Volvo into something extraordinary. Sean is quite talented and every build continues to receive media recognition as well as car show and race awards. Look for him at a racetrack near you!
Raphael House of Portland
It has been our pleasure this year to focus our community donations to the Raphael House of Portland. In addition to monetary donations, we installed new toilets (thank you to Consolidated for the equipment) and did pro bono HVAC and plumbing work. We raised money and brought awareness to this non-profit through our annual golf tournament, poker parties, an ice cream social, sponsoring Cold Brew Coffee (thank you Percasso for the first keg) during the summer, and jobsite BBQ’s. If you are interested in learning more about Raphael House, their website address is: www.raphaelhouse.com
Tubman Middle School
Alliant Systems worked with Portland Public Schools on a very fast track project during the summer of 2018. The project involved a complete HVAC retrofit of an existing 103,000 SF elementary school in preparation for its conversion into a middle school. Alliant performed all engineering in-house and this project was designed AND constructed within 5 months in preparation for the school re-opening in the fall of 2018.
Fire Stations 16 & 19
The Clackamas Fire Department is building two new fire stations. Fire stations #16 and #19 are both ground up builds. These are 12,000 square feet each and will house eight firefighters and a battalion chief. Through the Energy Trust of Oregon’s “Path to Net Zero” program, the project is incorporating energy-efficient envelope design, passive cooling, daylight harvesting, and rooftop solar panels.
Alliant Systems landed at No. 6 in the mid-size company category. This is a tremendous honor for all of us as the results are based solely on an independent employee feedback survey. We have an outstanding group of people; many of us have worked together for more than 20 years!
Alliant’s CAD and BIM group has committed to the use of SysQue software for drafting and detailing. This industry leading software allows us to build precisely detailed models which accurately reflect the final built condition of our designs. With software training completed earlier this year, we are now using these tools to enhance coordination, improve accuracy of designs, and accelerate project timelines.
Alliant was the second place winner in the 2016 SMACNA Safety Excellence Award Program for having an outstanding safety and health record in the 200,001 to 300,000 man-hour category. With a mod rate of 0.57 this year, we demonstrate every day that safety comes first!
Alliant Hosts Open House
After months of dust, remodeling, and moving we finally settled in enough to invite some company over for a little open house. Our new space turned out amazing and we enjoyed sharing it with some of our great clients and vendors. If you missed it, come by our office and we’ll show you around. We’re on the corner of NW 12th and Flanders.
Alliant Systems moves to a new location in the Pearl District
We are excited to announce that our headquarters office has moved to a new location in the Pearl District. We spent the previous 13 years in Beaverton, where we added space and remodeled twice. But, finally, we needed even more space and we also wanted to be in the thick of it downtown. We’re excited to be here!
Originally built in 1927, our building gives us 20,000 sq. ft. right in the heart of the Pearl. Our location has a walking score of 99, a bike score of 97, and a whole lot of restaurants and other places nearby to go for hazelnut lattes.
Our shop is now located at 12378 NW Amberwood in Hillsboro.
Our Eugene/Springfield office remains at the same address.
Alliant Systems is pleased to announce we have expanded to open a new office in the Eugene / Springfield area. The addition of this location follows months of planning and aligns with our goals of supporting current clients and establishing new relationships. Our commitment to excellence, as well as our mission to deliver outstanding customer service, has earned Alliant the excellent reputation we enjoy today.
Alliant Systems Initiated into the MSCA (Mechanical Service Contractors of America) Greenstar Program
In August 2010, Alliant Systems became the 33rd contractor in the country and the only contractor in the Pacific Northwest to gain entry into the MSCA GreenStar Program.
MSCA STAR qualified contractors are more than just committed to excellence. They’re continually devoted to environmental stewardship. MSCA GreenStar is an exclusive designation available only to contractors who have clearly demonstrated environmental responsibility by meeting specific and arduous criteria.
Recognized by the HVAC industry’s top green building resource, the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), MSCA GreenStar was developed to advocate MSCA STAR leadership in sustainable mechanical service.
Alliant Systems was honored to place 11th in the mid-size category of Oregon’s Top 100 Workplaces by the Oregonian.
This makes Alliant the NUMBER ONE Mechanical Engineering / Construction / Service firm to work for in the region!
“Receiving this award is especially gratifying because we were chosen by people I greatly respect; our employees,” said John Rozell, Managing Partner. “Having great people tell us this is where they want to work is a real honor, and only strengthens my resolve to be the employer they all deserve.”
