Project Assistant

Location: Portland, OR
Salary: DOE
Job Type: Fulltime
About The Job:

This position is responsible for a broad range of tasks to support Project Management. The Project Assistant performs the following:

  • Manage project documentation – operations and maintenance manuals, electronic submittal books and procurement logs
  • Assist Estimating Department with document management, quantity take-offs, and bid solicitation
  • Read specifications and drawings
  • Issue purchase orders and subcontracts
  • Request, organize, and file all documents associated with purchase orders and subcontracts
  • Maintain purchase order records in accounting software and become familiar with cost codes
  • Work directly with our vendors/subcontractors to procure quotes and submittals
  • Track equipment lead times and their ETA’s
  • Keep personnel notified regarding the status of orders
Requirements:

The candidate must possess the following abilities and skills:

  • Previous construction and/or purchasing industry experience is a plus
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Products, Adobe, and Bluebeam
  • Possess superior organizational skills
  • Ability to build constructive and effective working relationships with Alliant personnel and vendors
  • Possess excellent verbal, written, listening, persuasion and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision or in a team atmosphere
  • Self-motivated and responsible, can prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to accurately and calmly handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

The candidate must possess and be adaptable to the following physical abilities and working conditions:

  • Ability to see and hear well (either naturally or with correction)
  • Coordinate the movement of your eyes, hands or fingers
  • Reach for, handle, use fingers and manipulate objects
  • Speak clearly
  • Physical requirements include: standing, bending, squatting, sitting, climb ladders, and lift up to 25 lbs
  • Must be capable of working extended hour days when job/business needs demand

Project Manager

About The Job:

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Although 90% of the time is focused on the daily running of the mechanical construction projects, he/she also has some business development responsibilities. This individual is expected to meet performance standards set by the department manager and to comply with all company policies and procedures. Some travel may occasionally be required. The Project Manager performs the following

  1. Demonstrate a genuine respect for co-workers
  2. Prepare equipment requisitions with the Purchasing Department
  3. Research, prepare and present proposals
  4. Prepare cost control and expense reports
  5. Schedule and track job progress
  6. Review design drawings and estimate and write change orders
  7. Prepare monthly billings, projections and spreadsheet reports
  8. Write subcontracts, purchase orders, correspondence field questions, and job write-ups
  9. Supervise preparation of submittals, operations and maintenance manuals, air balance logs and as-builts
Requirements:

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

The candidate must possess the following abilities and skills:

  1. Minimum five years project management experience
  2. Experience in mechanical engineering and construction is a plus, but not a requirement
  3. Demonstrate a proven track record of successful projects and satisfied customer references
  4. Capable of managing mechanical projects ranging from $100,000 to $2,000,000 plus in size
  5. Proficient using a computer, i.e. Windows, Excel, Word and Microsoft Project


Project Engineer

Location: Portland, OR
Job Type: Fulltime
About The Job:

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Project Engineer takes direction from Project Manager to ensure staff efforts are coordinated and directed toward department and company goals. Some travel may occasionally be required. The Project Engineer performs the following:

  1. Manage jobsite documents
  2. Prepare equipment requisitions with the Purchasing Department
  3. Research, prepare and present proposals
  4. Prepare cost control and expense reports
  5. Meet performance standards set by department manager
  6. Schedule and track job progress
  7. Review design drawings, estimates and write change orders
  8. Write subcontracts, purchase orders, correspondence field questions, and job write-ups
  9. Assist with preparation of submittals, operations and maintenance manuals, air balance logs and as-builts
Requirements:

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

The candidate must possess the following abilities and skills:

  1. A Bachelor of Science degree in construction management or similar work experience
  2. Ability to work independently or in a team atmosphere
  3. Ability to adapt to flexible responsibilities
  4. Proficient in using Microsoft Office Products, NavisWorks, Bluebeam
  5. Effectively interact with customers, technicians, sales, office and field personnel in a collaborative manner
  6. Possess strong verbal, written, analytical, persuasion and interpersonal skills
  7. Technical experience specifically including detailed submittal/installation drawing review, dimension checking and material compliance; prior experience with mechanical and plumbing systems desired
  8. A basic understanding of accounting principles is a plus
